David Copperfield
David Copperfield
The orphan David
Copperfield, after being mistreated by his stepfather and his teachers, is
forced to work, in subhuman conditions, in a warehouse in London. However, the
life of our protagonist improves considerably when he decides to escape and go
in search of his aunt Betsey. Thanks to her, David will be able to go to a good
school and stay at the house of an affable lawyer, Mr. Wickfield, whose
daughter, Agnes, becomes one of his best friends.
Once he finishes
his studies, David, a lawyer in practice, meets Dora, whom he falls
passionately in love with and ends up marrying. Soon, David will realize that
Dora was not the woman he wanted to share his life with, and that he is
unhappy; When he is resigned to assume his mistake, Dora becomes ill and dies,
but not before asking Agnes on his deathbed to marry David. Finally, Agnes'
wish is fulfilled, and David and Agnes will be very happy together.
opinion: I think that the book, despite being a bit boring, captures the reader's affection, that's why I recommend it
